At The British School of Lanzarote we pride ourselves on our two science labs for ‘Practical Science Classes’. Year 8 enjoyed hands on data recording and experimental learning with Mr Santamaria. “The best classes are the ones when we nurture an interest and spark the desire to learn more”

NEWSLETTER 1 / 2025-26
4th September 2025 Dear Families, We hope you have had a wonderful summer, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for what promises to be an exciting year. As we celebrate the 40th anniversary of our school with events and activities that showcase the strength of our community, we will also use these celebrations as opportunities to inspire learning — reflecting on our pupils’ achievements, past and present, and exploring the qualities that make our school unique. This term also marks an important new step in our BSL provision as we welcome 2-year-old pupils into our pre-nursery for the very first time, reflecting our commitment to growth and learning at every stage. We would like to give you some information before school starts on Tuesday 9th September. Beginning and End of the Day As usual, the Senior school will be open from 8:00am for students to enter. At the Junior school, an early drop-off time from 7:45am at the entrance by the Headteacher’s office is available where students will be supervised on the main patio until 8:40am. The school day starts at 8:40am. Any students arriving after this time will be marked as late. Students arriving between 8:40am and 8:55am will need to report at the Headteacher´s entrance at the Junior school or at the Senior side door school entrance. Students arriving after 8:55am, or later in the day, should be brought to Administration where they must be signed in by a parent. For safeguarding reasons, please inform Administration as soon as possible if your child is going to be picked up from school by anyone other than yourselves or those who are already on the authorised pickup list. If Secondary pupils are collecting younger siblings or you wish to collect your child from a point away from the school gate, please inform Administration by email. As already mentioned, Students in Year 7 will leave school through the gate at the end of the path behind the senior building. A teacher will accompany them to the Senior building and supervise students until they are collected by a parent or another authorised person. If you would prefer your child to leave school unaccompanied and meet you at a different designated area, please complete and return the attached authorisation form (Annex 1). Punctuality and AttendancePunctuality and regular attendance are important to your child´s learning and are valuable life skills. However, we completely understand that there are times when unforeseen circumstances, such as illness or emergencies, may cause your child to be late or absent. In these cases, please inform Administration as soon as possible by email so that we can support your child appropriately. Absence and lateness are reviewed and if recurring or unjustified, we may need to contact you to discuss how we can work together to ensure your child’s continued growth and success. If your child feels unwell during the school day, they should inform a member of staff, who will then ask the office to contact you. Students should not contact parents directly, as mobile phones must remain switched off and stored in their bags. Most importantly, if a child is unwell, it is essential that we are informed so we can provide the right support and care. We kindly request that families park their cars and do not stop in the road to drop off or pick upstudents as this inconveniences other families, our neighbours and is a safety issue. Contact detailsFor your child’s welfare, please ensure that we have an up-to-date telephone number and email address on which you can be contacted in the unlikely event of any illness, accident, or emergency involving your child at the school. Please inform Administration if you have any changes to your contact information.
