House Systems
British School of Lanzarote
At BSL, our House System is at the heart of school life, bringing students together across year groups and fostering teamwork, leadership, and a sense of belonging.
Every student joins one of four Houses — Jameos, Janubio, Papagayo and Timanfaya — named after iconic Lanzarote landmarks. Siblings are placed in the same House, helping to strengthen family connections and community spirit. Houses include students from all year levels, giving younger students positive role models and older students opportunities to develop leadership skills.
Students earn House Points for effort, achievement, kindness, teamwork, leadership, and participation in competitions and events such as Sports Day. Points build friendly competition throughout the year, with the winning House celebrated for its collective effort and spirit.
We are especially proud that each House emblem was designed by our students, reflecting their creativity, pride, and ownership of school life.
The House System encourages every student to participate, contribute, and strive for excellence — together.
