Dear Parents and Community members,

Welcome to our school website. We hope it gives you a picture of life at our school.

The British School of Lanzarote is a uniquely exceptional school full of inspiration and wonder. After many years teaching and leading both in the UK and abroad, I am both honoured and privileged to have found my home at The British School in September 2020.

As you walk through our school, you experience colour, laughter, engagement and joy, no classroom or lesson looks the same and our students are always learning.

Built upon a foundation of trust, honesty and understanding, our school supports students from here in Lanzarote and all around the world to find their own unique pathway towards success. From our entry point in Foundation One aged just 3 years old to our exit point in Sixth Form at the age of 18, the school supports every stage of your child’s educational journey.

The school values are emulated through our practice. I hope that any visitor to the school can sense the value we place to family and community, connections, integrity, and compassion, see the consistent and high expectations applied across contextual and imaginative learning experiences as well as hear the team developing the integral components of English and Spanish language learning across the curriculum whilst also keeping a clear focus on the development of the whole child; mind, body and spirit.

Established in 1985, The British School of Lanzarote has been providing a consistently effective British style education for 36 years. Our community has thrived over this time, with generations of happy students, families and staff members. You don’t have to look too far to find an ex-student of ours, some have even made it back to us as teachers!

More recently the school progressed to a more International approach to learning and our students benefit greatly from this. They gain International qualifications as well as local at the aged of 16, and they can now choose to stay with us through to 18. The school is delighted after much demand, to now be offering International A Levels in our new Sixth Form department which was successfully inspected and approved by NABSS in February 2021.

The British School of Lanzarote’s adaptable, open and differentiated approach ensures our students are equipped with a more well-rounded, work ready set of skills alongside a balance of knowledge, and understanding. This prepares them for the outside world, where ever that may be. And as the world around us grows and changes, so will we here at BSL. Providing the right education for your child is paramount to us.
